A cooler (cooling radiator with fan) is a device designed to cool electronic computer components, especially those that generate a lot of heat, such as processors, video cards, and power supplies. It usually consists of a heatsink and a fan.
Functions:
- Cooling: The cooler draws heat away from heated components, preventing them from overheating and damage.
- Airflow: The fan creates an airflow that helps dissipate heat from the heatsink.
- Heat transfer: Thermal paste is often used to improve heat transfer between the component and the heatsink.
Types of coolers:
- Air coolers: Use fans and heatsinks for cooling.
- Water coolers: Use liquid cooling to dissipate heat more efficiently.
Applications:
- Desktop computers: Use to cool processors, graphics cards and other components.
- Laptops: Smaller but similar in operation.
- Servers: Necessary to keep equipment in server rooms running smoothly.
