Effective storage

The use of deduplication and compression technologies saves space and reduces data storage costs. Deduplication eliminates repetitive blocks of data, removing duplicates and saving disk space. Compression compresses information by removing redundancy and replacing data with shorter representations. This helps optimize resource utilization and improve data efficiency.

Functional features

RAID-Z (1,2,3) - **robust levels of data protection**

Unlike other RAID systems, RAID-Z does not have a fixed "strike" (stripe) size, but uses the logical block size of the file system. Each record in a RAID-Z array is a full segment record, which provides reliable data storage. RAID-Z uses diagonal checksum distribution, which guarantees data integrity and allows to restore information in case of failure of one or more disks. This technology allows you to quickly recover not only entire disks, but also individual blocks of data. In case of checksum mismatch, the logical error is instantly detected and corrected. Through the use of caching and data access optimization, RAID-Z provides high performance when reading and writing data.

Thin Provisioning - **optimizes performance, extending the life of SSD drives**

Unlike traditional hard disks, SSDs store data in flash memory cells grouped into pages. Writing to SSDs is very fast as long as blank pages exist, but slows down significantly when pre-written pages need to be cleared. TRIM technology is designed to reduce the impact of garbage collection on write performance.

Snapshots - **without performance impact and independent of volume size**

Snapshots protect the data on the volume and provide ReadOnly storage, which ensures integrity and prevents accidental corruption or deletion of the original data. Creating and deleting Snapshots does not affect overall system performance, which ensures uninterrupted operation of applications and services. They allow you to quickly roll back a volume to a previous state, which speeds up the recovery process in case of failures or errors.

Inline-Compression - **saves space and reduces the number of write operations**

Inline-Compression reduces the amount of data stored, decreasing the amount of space and reducing the load on the disk system. It protects data from loss or corruption, and in the event of a failure, compressed data can be quickly recovered because it takes up less space and requires fewer resources to recover. The ratio can vary depending on the type of data and the compression algorithms configured, but it is typically between 2:1 and 4:1.

Inline-Deduplication - **reduces data volumes and optimizes data storage**

Deduplication is performed immediately when data is written to disk, avoiding the storage of duplicate data and saving space immediately. Depending on the size and type of data being written, InlineDeduplication can provide a deduplication factor of up to x3.

TRIM (Deallocate) support - **optimizes performance, extending the life of SSD drives**

Unlike traditional hard disks, SSDs store data in flash memory cells grouped into pages. Writing to SSDs is very fast as long as blank pages exist, but slows down significantly when pre-written pages need to be cleared. TRIM technology is designed to reduce the impact of garbage collection on the performance of write operations. However, TRIM is an ATA interface command, and in NVMe protocols, the equivalent is the Deallocate command. It allows the operating system to notify the SSD which blocks of data (pages) do not carry a payload and may not be physically stored. In conclusion, TRIM is an advanced technology that enhances the SSD by providing high performance and long life. With TRIM, the SSD automatically frees up unused space, preventing slowdowns and increasing the reliability of the device.

QoS - **workload and prioritization control**

With QoS, storage administrators can manage the prioritization of access to storage resources. This helps ensure the right level of service for users and applications, preventing unplanned overloads and protecting key services from degradation.

Monitoring - **AutoSupport alerts and performance monitoring system**

The integrated monitoring system provides centralized management and control of all storage components. There is no more need for routine monitoring of equipment health. Thanks to automated data collection and instant alerts, the administrator will be informed of failures as soon as possible, and the system will perform self-diagnostics and indicate errors in advance. The interface provides the ability to create visual performance graphs for any component of the system, which allows you to timely identify and eliminate problems and optimize the use of resources.

Security - **role-based access model for system management**

ITPOD Storage implements a role-based management system access model, which is based on assigning specific roles to users. Roles are built on the basis of organizational structure, functional responsibilities or a combination of both. This model is the most flexible and perfect among other models of access to information systems. The user must go through a process of authentication (entering a username and password) and authorization (checking the granted permissions) before accessing resources.

Easy maintenance - **intuitive graphical web interface**

The graphical interface makes it easy to navigate and manage your storage system, making the maintenance process simpler and more accessible to users with varying levels of technical expertise. It also provides tools to assess storage health, analyze resource utilization and monitor performance.
